Swimsuit shopping. It’s the worst! If I had to pick two things that I absolutely abhor shopping for, they would be jeans and swimsuits. Whether it’s the awful dressing room lighting or that salty snack you ate earlier that makes you feel and look like a bloatation device, neither experience usually screams fun!
So this year, I did my shopping online and discovered this cute one piece and fell in love. I admit I haven’t worn a one piece since my high school swim team days so I was a bit nervous about the high cut and the tight fit around the tummy. When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. It fit right in all the worrisome areas. I mean sure… I could have used a bit more coverage on the bum, but hell I was on vacay with my hubby and thought being cheeky could be a little fun. Speaking of fun, the most hilarious part of our entire trip came about on our last day in Cali. Unbeknownst to us… our quiet little “private” locals beach was in fact a “clothing optional” beach, so we walked right into a “mature audiences” only zone and boy were we surprised. Hey, it was vacation, so I looked at Timi and said…”this is the best beach in town, with the best views (of the Pacific Ocean of course) so let them do their thing and we can do our’s” …and so we did. We may have ended up being the most covered up couple at the beach but we lived like hippies for a day (vicariously through the other beachgoers) of course and soaked in the rays.
As for the suit, one pieces were the popular beach look of the summer. I think there is something to be said about covering up and leaving a little bit to the imagination. I personally loved the high waist bikini trend from last year, so I had those on stand by in case this suit fell through. I have bubbies so itsy bitsy bikinis have never been for me. I like feeling comfortable and secure for my beach excursions, so with the adjustable straps in the back, it was the right fit.
To accent the suit, I added this boho inspired necklace which perfectly complimented the bronze color. As you all know, I am a sucker for turquoise. Finishing off the look, was the beautiful handcrafted shawl my mother made for me. My mother is the best and knew exactly what I wanted. It was perfect. THANKS MOM!
