What you Buy is Not What You Get…and WHY That’s A Good Thing!

I am going to admit something to you. When I purchased this off the rack, I did not try it on. I had just exited the dressing room after trying on about a zillion items when I spotted it. I was exhausted and chose to buy it on a whim, which is so out of character for me to do, but the swiss dot pattern and beautiful coral and wine colored flowers were calling my name.

Later on that night, when I went to try the dress on, I began to curse out loud. As I stepped into it, the dress felt oddly tight. So naturally, I started to think this is what I get for not trying it on in the store and started to shout…” I knew it would be too damn small! Curse youuuu!” Then in true Mary Kay form, as I was trying to wiggle my way into what was beginning to feel like a straight jacket, I realized that I was trying to fit my entire body through one single leg opening. Yes, you see … I was oblivious to the world…and hadn’t realized that I purchased a dress after all. Instead, I bought a romper!  So, my curses quickly turned into shouts of joy all while my enthusiasm was lost on my hubby in the next room over who thought I had gone completely manic.

On one last note, I have received several inquiries about my round rattan bag. Recently, I saw a version of this bag being sold at Free People for over twice the price around $140. However, I actually discovered mine first via Soludos. They directed me to a shop on ETSY  called Ellen and James where each bag is custom made in BALI and sells for $65. Due to the fact that each one is custom made, no two bags are the same. They also offer 2 different clasps, so when you place your order, just leave a note of which one your prefer. During the design process, the bags are smoked in an oven over coconut hasks, so the bag arrives with this amazing natural smoked aroma. I absolutely adore it. Other incredible designs are also available so make sure to go check them out!

That’s all for now! I hope my fellow New Yorkers are spending the day somewhere cool. It is 95 here today, so I feel like we are in for one hot long summer! STAY COOL!

Til next time! xoxo

  1. Oh my gosh, I completely laughed reading this because it’s as if I was reading a story about myself! I am far too familiar with the “ugh screw it, I don’t wanna try it on” attitude, and surprisingly enough, trying to fit my entire body through one leg of a romper. It happens to the best of us, or just me and you, who knows!

Anyways, this is still one of my fave looks of you ever! So envious of your style!
